Duffy Residence Restoration Phase I Completed

Many thanks to all who participated in the Phase I work on the Msgr Duffy Seminarian Residence. After a great start on May 22nd, two more workdays were scheduled and completed.

On June 5 AOH State President Joe Dougherty, Jim Lawracy, Joe Cronin; Msgr John L. Manning Division President Stephen White, his son Stephen Jr., AOH State Secretary Neil Diamond, Patrick Tivnin, Jim Brady, and Al Stiles completed the necessary demolition of the 2nd story porch and accomplished additional restoration of the subflooring and installed all but 25' of the decking. New photos!

On June 25th Jim Lawracy, Stephen White and Stephen White, Jr, Jim Brady and Al Stiles completed restoration of the final section of subflooring and installed the last 25' of the decking. Louis Moore made his truck available loading and hauling off all the debris left over at the end of the day and hauled off to the landfill, TWICE!

At the beginning of this project a request went out to all of the Knights of Columbus Councils and Ancient Order of Hibernian Divisions in the state for a donation of $500.00 and total of $5300.00 was received. At this point it is appropriate to recognize those Councils and Divisions that have responded. If your Council or Division has contributed to the project and is not listed below. Please contact Al Stiles, (843) 345-8206, and give him the check number and the exact payee. Only those Councils and Divisions that made out their checks to Robert J. Baker and annotated them with America Street or Msgr. Duffy Seminarian Residence were credited with a donation and had those funds earmarked for the project. Those funds can be identified and redirected if we have the check number as the financial Dept. saves an image of the check and we can locate from those records and get the money to the right account. It is also possible that your donation may have been received after the last update. If that is the case please let Al know. Finally, a special vote of thanks to the Oratory Council, 6756, of Rock Hill for their contribution of $1000.00.

We already developing the work plan for phase two which will accomplish the replacement of the columns and ralings for the porches. Preliminary estimates for materials is between $9000.00 and $13,000.00. Very little funds remain in the account at this time so full participation is critical to completing this next phase.
